Clean Up Australia Day at Hunter’s Crossing 2025

From Site co-ordinator of the Hunter’s Crossing Clean Up site…

Clean Up Australia Day at Hunters Crossing gleaned the following.. 10 glass bottles, 1 wine bottle, 1 battery, 3 ciggie butts, 14 bottle caps, 2 T/A polystyrene food containers, 3 T/A plastic food containers, 18 plastic bottles, 27 coffee cups/lids, 34 cans, 111 plastic bags or part thereof, 10 plastic straws, 530 food wrappers , 2 vapes. (I completed the block today).

Altogether five bags of landfill and three bags of recyclables were collected.  Interesting items were a birdcage and a copper urn.

Thirteen people attended (4 were children and we love them) but we barely touched the edges at this site and all creeks and rivers lead to the sea. Next year there will be changes to attract hopefully more than this.     I have heard that some 3931 BP volunteers joined the Frankston group and there were 100 participants at that spot so the beach is clearly the favoured location. It all counts so I hope everyone had a good day and felt rewarded.

Well done to Marty, Mel, Pauline, Kate, Brett, Liam and Lucy, Chris, Yasmin, Eddie, Ann and Peter. Special thanks to Marty and Mel with the sorting and provision of resources including a Beach Bonanza table with harvested goods on offer left behind from the beach over the summer. See you next year.
