From Victoria National Parks Association (27/11/24)…
Good news for our Alps!
I have good news. Tucked away in a ‘project status update’ is a win for the Victorian Alps. And a sigh of relief for everyone who laboured long and hard to protect this beloved landscape.
The 80 commercial glamping structures proposed by Parks Victoria are off the table. Or should I say mountain.
Home to the magnificent Mt Feathertop and the sublime moss-bedded Bogong High Plains, the Alpine National Park is a living, fragile gem.
This was never the place to build privatel-run luxury accommodation for a minority of park visitors. And now it won’t be.

Successes like these don’t happen by accident. This one took ten years and is the result of a determined community of people speaking up for nature and parks. So if you sent letters or emails to your local MPs, called elected representatives, filled in questionable consultations or spread the word – this one is for you.
We encourage you to attend the upcoming Parks Victoria community information sessions. Register for an online at 5.30-7pm on Wednesday 4 December or attend an in person event (held in multiple locations between 29-30 November).
We’ll keep an eye on how the rest of the development unfolds and keep you updated.
Days like this are rare, but they are the ones that make it all worthwhile.
