Thanks very much Peninsula Grammar, great work !
For the last two years staff from Peninsula Grammar have committed a full morning to work on Red Bluff at Mills Beach as part of their annual community service day near the end of the school year. This year a large and enthusiastic group of twenty nine staff members continued this tradition. Most of their efforts were focussed on clearing polygala off the bluff and collecting seeds from native grasses and plants.
The polygala control they have undertaken over the past three years is having a significant impact on the habitat values and biodiversity of this important foreshore area. The seeds collected from the local grasses and other native plants will be used for direct seeding of selected areas next autumn.
We greatly appreciate the involvement of the school in our environmental efforts and look forward to seeing you again next year. Your team of 29 intrepid volunteers was awe-inspiring!
