They’re still tearing through over habitat trees in the Yarra Ranges National Park

Did you see my recent email about the destruction in the Yarra Ranges National Park?

I’m gutted to say it’s gotten worse. We’ve just found out that Forest Fire Management are ramping up. They’re now tearing through over 100 habitat trees.

Critically Endangered Leadbeater’s Possums and Greater Gliders were recorded using these big old hollow-bearing trees only three weeks ago.

There’s still time to protect the ones that are standing. But state and federal Environment Ministers must step in and call for a review of the impacts on threatened wildlife and habitat.

Today, citizen scientists discovered an old hollow-bearing tree on the forest floor. It was destroyed by Forest Fire Management Victoria.

Where? In the Yarra Ranges National Park. And this is just the start of their ongoing operations to ‘upgrade’ 250km of ‘strategic fuel breaks’. They’ve marked 77 more critical habitat trees for the axe.
