GUEST SPEAKER: SHANNON HURLEY
Nature Conservation Campaigner Victorian National Parks Association
Shannon Hurley is VNPA’s Nature Conservation Campaigner, focusing on protecting marine and coastal areas, as well as other land based campaigns. Prior to joining VNPA, Shannon was a Great Barrier Reef campaigner with the Australian Marine Conservation Society, successfully working with a team to get the Reef/Stop Adani campaign as the number one environmental issue in the lead up to the Queensland state election. Before then Shannon worked for Parks Victoria as a Marine Planner, Marine Project Officer and Marine Ranger. More recently she has been a key campaigner in protecting Westernport and Port Phillip Bay from projects that threaten our precious waterways.
Shannon will be sharing her knowledge and stories about some of our most precious natural assets, and reflecting on what she has learned along the way as a dedicated marine campaigner.
Shannon is also a keen scuba diver and huge fan of sharks, and has recently embarked on a business called ‘Salty Tribe’ connecting women with the ocean and combining wellbeing, adventure and conservation.
